Sydney Melbourne 2018 (Day 7)

This morning, we bade farewell to my favourite apartment thus far. We headed for the Brighton Boat Shed. We’ve seen many photos of the place. It’s like a place everyone will head to when they are in Melbourne. It’s really different to be here personally. The long stretch of boat shed was captivating.

There, we decided to leave the city and head for Yarra Valley. In fact, I have been looking forward to that because I like visiting the ‘valleys’ in Australia because they usually meant wineries and chocolate factories!

First, we went to the Yering Farm winery where we sampled some wines. As hubby was the designated driver for the day, I was the designated wine sampler!

We then had lunch at a nearby restaurant and then went further down the valley to 2 other farms, one that grew and produced kiwi wine and ciders! Really interesting. I bought more alcohol from here. Haha!

Finally, we went to the Yarra Valley Chocolate Factory. Chocolates they sold here were plenty. But what made me love this place was the large outdoor area next to a farm and also a chance for me to make my own chocolate with kids! Yes kids. I paid AUD$5 and joined a chocolate-designing session that was made for kids. The staff allowed me to do it when I asked about the session, maybe I appeared super enthu about it, or maybe I behaved like a kid…

Having learnt my lesson at the Great Ocean Road, we made a conscious effort to make sure we reached our cottage before the sky turned dark. It was a great decision! We got to see how pretty our cottages were and had some time to rest before heading out for dinner nearby! We had to rest early because we need to wake up early for our final and biggest highlight of the trip the next day!
